Art Analysis

The purpose of our class assignment was to search for connections and meaning in an assortment of images.  Some were obviously linked, as in Group 2’s portrait collection, but others needed further thought, such as Group 4’s seemingly unrelated popular pictures.  Group 1 and 3 were divided up into common themes, making it easier to analyze the separate sets.

It was important to look at all the images for a while because at first glance it was easy to miss important elements of the pictures.  A common theme through one of the two groupings in my photograph set was people, but upon deeper observation the reflections revealed by each became apparent.  They added something to each photo that told a story about the setting and time each was taken. In these sets of people, the bus photo that delineated social class with its placement of the passengers particularly captured my attention.  It seems as if each is in their own separate place and time because of the way they are separated.

It seems important to analyze these so that we can have a deeper appreciation for how art can vary and interact at the same time.
