Artist 6 - Jonah Brucker-Cohen and Katherine Moriwaki

The colors of the umbrellas are what initially drew me to this pair of artists’ work.  That it is a performance piece and not just a picture makes it all the more interesting.  Things that we take for granted every day, like cell phones and texting, were used to create the effects with the color in the umbrellas.  It was very technical, so much so that the project required the assistance of an engineer.  The piece was grouped with two other media art pieces by John Klima and Martin Wattenberg.

The connection between people that is shown through these umbrellas is interesting.  Especially in this new age when there can be a large room full of people and no one in interacting because of all these new technologies that are meant to keep us together but just serve to draw us father apart.  It demonstrates that everyone is still connected, even if they don’t really realize it.
