My friends and I were having an early, before spring break celebratory bonfire on the beach and I was staring into the embers thinking how beautiful they were, especially when they were raked. Like twinkling stars they flickered and shined and changed constantly. The warmth and well being around the fire and within the fire was not art, but it was still attention drawing and without the intention it is not art.
Fire is something to be respected and treated carefully, though many do not and play with it willy-nilly. Without it we cannot survive. The sun itself is just a large sphere of fire and though it is taken for granted and is not art it still deserves attention. So why shouldn’t embers which are the manageable and beautiful form.
